MACU Outshoots SAGU Lady Lions

February 15, 2024

Waxahachie, TX - In a much-anticipated showdown within the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC), the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions hosted the Mid-America Christian University (MACU) Evangels at the electrifying Sheaffer Center in Waxahachie, Texas.

Lady Lions Review
Right from the tip-off, the Lady Lions displayed tenacity, aiming to thwart MACU's sharpshooting prowess. MACU, fresh off a remarkable three-point spectacle in their last victory, commenced with a 7-0 scoring surge. Autumn Moore's clutch three-pointer and swift layup injected vitality into the Lady Lions' offense.

Rylee Lavender, igniting off the bench, unleashed consecutive treys, propelling the Lady Lions back into contention. Neeley Tilley-Beddick showcased her long-range proficiency, keeping the pressure on MACU. However, despite the Lady Lions' resilience, MACU surged ahead with a 27-16 lead after the first quarter.

Chanie Chambers and Cailyn Tucker ignited the crowd with emphatic and-one plays and deep threes, injecting energy into the Sheaffer Center. Despite their fiery display, the Lady Lions trailed 41-36 at halftime.

In the second half, despite grappling with foul trouble and MACU's relentless shooting, the Lady Lions fought valiantly to stay within striking distance. Ultimately, they fell short, with MACU securing a 78-65 victory.
