Oklahoma City, OK - The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions embarked on a journey to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to engage in a thrilling Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) doubleheader against the Mid-America Christian University (MACU) Evangels. The day unfolded with a blend of triumph and challenge for the Lady Lions, as they split the series with MACU.

Game 1
In the opener of this conference showdown, the Lady Lions showcased their resilience by clinching a hard-fought 2-1 triumph over MACU. Sasha Jennings ignited the offense, going 2 for 4 at the plate and crossing the plate for a pivotal run. Trista Ford delivered a standout performance, batting 2 for 4 with a crucial double and driving in two runs. Aracelie Mares contributed to the offensive effort, going 1 for 2 and scoring a run. On the mound, Natalie Zamora exhibited her prowess, securing her 4th win of the season with a stellar complete game effort. Zamora dazzled over 7 innings, surrendering just 1 earned run on 5 hits, reaffirming her status as one of the cornerstones of the Lady Lions' pitching rotation.
 

Game 2
The second leg of the doubleheader presented a formidable challenge for the Lady Lions, as they encountered a relentless MACU squad and succumbed to a tough 9-0 defeat. Despite the setback, several Lady Lions displayed commendable performances at the plate. Sasha Jennings, Trista Ford, and McKenzie Schulze each registered a hit, going 1 for 2, striving to ignite a rally. However, MACU's pitching prowess proved insurmountable, as the Lady Lions struggled to generate sustained offensive momentum. On the mound, Trista Ford endured a challenging outing, absorbing the loss after an early exit in the first inning, yielding 7 earned runs on 4 hits. Annie Charanza provided valiant relief effort, navigating 1.1 innings and conceding 2 earned runs on 5 hits. Macie Blizzard and Valerie Guzman also showcased their resilience, delivering solid innings of relief without conceding any hits or runs, underscoring the Lady Lions' depth in pitching talent.

As the dust settles from the doubleheader split, the Lady Lions will return to the diamond on February 24th, Saturday afternoon, poised to seize the momentum and emerge triumphant in the remainder of the series.
