SAGU Lady Lions Split Doubleheader against Dallas Christian

Waxahachie, TX - The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions softball
team ignited their 2024 campaign with a riveting doubleheader against the Dallas Christian
College (DCC) Crusaders at the Lions Athletic Complex in Waxahachie, TX. The day unfolded
with exhilarating action, keeping fans on the edge of their seats.

Game 1
Game 1 saw the Lady Lions engage in a hard-fought battle, ultimately succumbing to the DCC
Crusaders with a final score of 7-3. Despite the setback, standout performances emerged,
notably from Macie Blizzard, who delivered a clutch 1-for-1 performance with a crucial RBI.
Brooke Kinnibrugh showcased her prowess with a 1-for-3 display, including a pivotal double and
a run scored. Sasha Jennings added to the offensive effort with a timely double. On the mound,
Trista Ford exhibited resilience, enduring through 7 innings while permitting only 2 earned runs.
Ford tallied 2 strikeouts and limited the opposition to 6 hits. Macie Blizzard contributed a solid
inning of relief, notching a strikeout amidst allowing 2 hits and a lone run.

Game 2
Game 2 witnessed a remarkable turnaround as the Lady Lions rallied to secure a thrilling 7-6
triumph over the DCC Crusaders. The offense roared to life, spearheaded by Trista Ford's
stellar 2-for-2 outing, featuring a pivotal double, 2 runs scored, and an RBI. McKenzie Schulze
showcased her batting prowess, going 3-for-4 with a double and 2 crucial RBIs. Brooke
Kinnibrugh continued her impactful performance at the plate, going 2-for-3 while contributing a
run and an RBI. Aracelie Mares and Abigail Muniz joined the offensive barrage, each delivering
multiple hits to fuel the victory. On the mound, Natalie Zamora secured the win with a resilient
4-inning effort, registering 4 strikeouts despite allowing 4 earned runs. Annie Charanza provided
steadfast relief pitching, yielding just 1 earned run on 2 hits across 3 innings.

The Lady Lions set their sights on the upcoming challenge as they prepare to journey to
Mesquite, Texas, on Feb 9 to partake in the 2024 Mesquite Invitational.
