SAGU Lady Lions Crosstown Clash Culminates in Doubleheader Drama vs. TXWES Rams

March 24, 2024

Fort Worth, TX - The softball diamond in Fort Worth, Texas, witnessed an electrifying clash between crosstown rivals, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions and the Texas Wesleyan University (TXWES) Rams, in a doubleheader showdown to conclude their conference series on Sunday evening.

Game 1
In the opening bout, the Lady Lions faced a tough challenge, succumbing to a 7-4 defeat against Texas Wesleyan. Despite a valiant effort at the plate, highlighted by Sasha Jennings' double and Trista Ford's two-run homer, SAGU couldn't secure the win. McKenzie Schulze also contributed with a home run, but it wasn't enough to overcome Texas Wesleyan's offensive prowess. On the mound, Annie Charanza and Macie Blizzard showcased resilience, but ultimately couldn't stave off the Rams' offense.

Game 2
The intensity carried into the second game as the Lady Lions fought tooth and nail, yet fell short once again, this time with a 7-5 scoreline. Sasha Jennings and Makinzy Kneip led the charge with stellar performances at the plate, supported by Trista Ford and Cadence Hopgood. Despite their efforts, Natalie Zamora and Valerie Guzman faced a formidable Texas Wesleyan lineup, unable to halt their opponent's offensive onslaught.

Looking Ahead
The Lady Lions set their sights on their upcoming doubleheader against Oklahoma Panhandle State University on Mar 28 (Thu) at 2:00 PM in Goodwell, Oklahoma.
