Panhandle Sweeps SAGU Lady Lions in SAC Doubleheader Day One

March 28, 2024

Goodwell, OK - The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions faced a tough challenge in Goodwell, Oklahoma, as they clashed with Oklahoma Panhandle State University (OPSU) in a Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) doubleheader on Wednesday. Despite their efforts, the Lady Lions dropped both games.

Game 1

Game one saw the Lady Lions putting up a valiant fight but ultimately conceding to OPSU's prowess, with a final score of 9-5. Sasha Jennings showcased her offensive skills, going 2 for 4 at the plate and notching a run while stealing a base. Trista Ford and McKenzie Schulze each contributed with 2 hits, with Ford also securing 2 runs and an RBI, while Schulze added a run and an RBI to her name. Despite their efforts, the Lady Lions couldn't overcome OPSU's strong offensive performance. On the mound, Valerie Guzman, Macie Blizzard, and Annie Charanza faced tough opposition, with OPSU's hitters proving to be a formidable challenge.

Game 2

Game two proved to be another hard-fought battle, but the Lady Lions couldn't turn the tide, falling to OPSU with a score of 2-0. Brooke Kinnibrugh, Cadence Hopgood, Kaeli Lynn, and Myranda Lewis each contributed with hits, but OPSU's pitching proved to be too much to handle. Natalie Zamora showcased her talent on the mound, pitching a complete game and limiting OPSU's scoring opportunities, but it wasn't enough to secure the win for the Lady Lions.

Next Up

Looking ahead, the Lady Lions will regroup and aim to bounce back as they prepare to close out the series against OPSU on March 29th in Goodwell, Oklahoma.
