The Lady Lions Fall Short in Games 1 and 2 of the Oklahoma City Series

April 24, 2024

Waxahachie, TX - In day one of the Oklahoma City series, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions went head to head against Oklahoma City University (OCU) in their final conference series of the season at the Waxahachie Sports Complex in Waxahachie, Texas.

Game 1
In game one, the Lady Lions came up short in a 5-0 loss to a talented Oklahoma City squad. Despite the loss, some of the Lady Lions who stood out offensively included Makinzy Kneip who went 2 for 3, and McKenzie Schulze who knocked a double. Some other contributions came from Sasha Jennings and Cadence Hopgood who each had a base hit. Pitcher Valerie Guzman battled through 7 innings, but was ultimately handed the loss.

Game 2

The struggles for the Lady Lions continued over into game 2 as they took an 11-0 loss. Offensively, the Lady Lions were led by doubles from both McKenzie Schulze and Hailey Ledbetter. Starting Pitcher Macie Blizzard fought in her 1.2 innings of work, Aracelie Mares and Samantha Wegman came in for relief.
