Lady Lions Fall Short in Hard-Fought Battle Against LSU Shreveport, 3-1

Waxahachie, TX – Wednesday evening at the Lions Athletic Complex was nothing short of electrifying as the Nelson University Lady Lions women's soccer team took on a formidable opponent, Louisiana State University Shreveport. Despite an early lead, the Lady Lions couldn't hold off the relentless pressure from the visitors, ultimately falling 3-1 in a thrilling contest.

Lady Lions Review
The game started with a flash of brilliance from the Lady Lions. At the 9:44 mark, Stephanie Hernandez found the back of the net with a beautiful finish, assisted by Stephanie Arreola, giving Nelson University an early 1-0 advantage. The goal was a testament to their quick movement and coordinated teamwork, setting the tone for what promised to be an exciting match.

However, LSU Shreveport answered back with equal intensity. In the 31st minute, Dawniella Torres, assisted by Yuvia Vazquez, leveled the scoreline at 1-1. The Lady Lions defense held strong, but just before halftime, Diana Godines broke through to put LSU Shreveport ahead 2-1, shifting the momentum.

The second half saw the Lady Lions fight hard to equalize, but LSU Shreveport continued to apply pressure. At the 64:50 mark, Maja Nikolic scored the final goal for the visitors, sealing the 3-1 result. Despite the scoreline, Nelson's defense and goalkeeper Tanner Sorenson made critical stops throughout the game, with Sorenson recording 5 saves over the 90 minutes.

The Lady Lions had a total of 6 shots and 2 on goal, with Anna Bewley and Stephanie Hernandez leading the attack. Bewley recorded 2 shots, and Hernandez made an impact with her goal and 2 shots on goal.
