Austin, TX – The Lady Lions women's soccer team embarked on a journey to Austin, Texas, for a midweek clash against Concordia University at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex. In a hard-fought match, the Nelson University squad was unable to overcome their opponents, falling 2-0.
Concordia's defense stifled the Lady Lions, limiting their offensive chances throughout the match. Anna Bewley was the standout for Nelson University, leading the attack with four shots and one on goal, while Stephanie Hernandez contributed two shots, including one on target. Despite these efforts, the Lady Lions could not find the back of the net.
Concordia struck early, netting their first goal in the 11th minute courtesy of midfielder Avery Walker. The home team added a second goal in the 61st minute, with forward Emma Payne securing the insurance goal to put the game out of reach for Nelson.
Goalkeeper Samantha Longoria made seven saves out of the nine shots on goal, showcasing her resilience despite the two goals allowed. However, Concordia's steady pressure and clinical finishing were the deciding factors.
