McPherson, KS – The Nelson University Lady Lions Volleyball team showcased their dominance in a Kansas doubleheader on Friday, securing two crucial wins. First, they battled McPherson College at 1:00 PM before taking on Central Christian College at 6:00 PM, demonstrating their tenacity and depth in back-to-back matchups.
Game 1
In a tightly contested four-set match against McPherson College, the Lady Lions bounced back from a tough opening set loss to claim a 3-1 victory (20-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-14). Nelson University's relentless energy, highlighted by a stellar offensive attack and tenacious blocking, powered them to victory.
The Lady Lions finished the match with a hitting percentage of .281, overpowering McPherson's .130. Bailee Alexander led the charge with 19 kills, supported by Mackenzie Smith's 11 and Caroline Boone's 9. The team's strong net presence was evident with 14 blocks, spearheaded by Smith and Lilly Hanna. The Lady Lions dominated the service line as well, with Lindi
Boling and Tessa Glick recording 5 aces combined.
Despite McPherson's gritty play, especially in the first set where they outhit Nelson University with a .382 clip, the Lady Lions regrouped and swung the momentum in their favor, finishing strong in sets two through four.
Game 2
In the evening match, the Lady Lions continued their momentum, steamrolling Central Christian College in straight sets (25-11, 25-16, 25-12). Nelson University showcased their offensive firepower with an impressive .421 hitting percentage while holding Central Christian to a mere .048.
Bailee Alexander again led the team with 9 kills, supported by the efficient play of Alexandra Bonnett and Mackenzie Smith, who each chipped in 8 and 7 kills, respectively. The Lady Lions dominated from the service line with 11 aces, led by Boling and Glick, while the defense remained a wall, led by Lilly Hanna's 4 blocks.
This victory not only secured a second win for the day but also allowed Nelson University to extend their conference record to an impressive 7-0.

against Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma, where they will look to continue their winning streak and further cement their position as a top contender in the conference.
