Lady Lions Review

From the first serve, Nelson (5-4, 1-0 SAC) showcased their offensive firepower, winning the first set 25-19. Freshman sensation Caroline Boone spearheaded the attack, delivering 13 kills with a blistering .571 hitting percentage, proving to be a pivotal force throughout the match. The second set followed in similar fashion, as Nelson took a 25-22 win, pushing the Drovers (4-6, 0-1 SAC) to the edge with relentless offense and solid defense. The third set capped off the night with a 25-21 victory, sealing the match with precision and teamwork.

Nelson's offense tallied 52 kills on an impressive .307 hitting percentage, compared to USAO's 31 kills at .202. The Lady Lions dominated the court with their clean passing, and precise assists led by Taylor Cavazos, who notched a game-high 23 assists. Meanwhile, Tessa Glick was a defensive powerhouse, recording 18 digs to anchor the back row.

Despite USAO's commendable effort, including standout performances from Jaliyah Cox and Victoria Southerland, Nelson's relentless attack was simply too much for the Drovers to handle. Boone's 13 kills were supported by Bailee Alexander's 13 kills and 7 digs, while Alexandra Bonnett chipped in with 8 kills to round out a balanced offensive attack.

Coach Hank Moore's Post-Game Thoughts
"First conference win," remarked Coach Hank Moore. "Hats off to USAO, they played well. Our player of the game would be Caroline Boone. As a freshman, she really stepped up and carried us at times. All the stats are in Presto. The numbers look good, but we really had a tough time with this team."

Key Player Stats

Caroline Boone: 13 kills, .571 hitting percentage

Bailee Alexander: 13 kills, 7 digs

Tessa Glick: 18 digs
