The Lady Lions put up a fierce fight against the Bobcats in a thrilling SAC showdown

Point Lookout, MO – The Nelson University Lady Lions showcased determination on Saturday afternoon in their Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) showdown against the College of the Ozarks Bobcats at the Keeter Athletic Complex. Despite a valiant effort, the Lady Lions fell 75-67 in a game marked by standout performances and hard-fought moments.

The contest opened with intensity as Nelson kept pace with the Bobcats, trading baskets early in the first quarter. Kyla McMinn and Lauryn Scalice set the tone with sharp shooting, and Wendy Clemmons dominated the boards, grabbing eight rebounds. By the close of the first, the Lady Lions trailed by just six, 24-18.

In the second quarter, Nelson's defense tightened, holding the Bobcats to 37.5% shooting. Autumn Moore stepped up for the Lady Lions, contributing six points and a perfect 2-for-2 from the free-throw line. Despite their defensive improvements, Nelson entered halftime down 41-30.

The Lady Lions roared back in the third, led by Paris Miller's aggressive play, netting four of her 12 points. The team outscored the Bobcats 22-15, closing the gap to just four points heading into the final frame. The bench made significant contributions, tallying 35 points on the day.

In the fourth quarter, the Bobcats managed to pull away, with Logan Jones leading all scorers with 24 points for the home team. Nelson refused to back down, with Autumn Moore delivering a clutch three-pointer in the final seconds, finishing with a team-high 13 points. However, a late free-throw run from the Bobcats sealed the win.

The Lady Lions (4-12, 3-10 SAC) demonstrated heart and resilience, highlighted by their dominance on the boards with 45 rebounds, including 10 offensive. The team will look to carry this momentum into their next matchup.
