Heartbreaker at Home as Lady Lions Fall Short Against UNTD in SAC Thriller

Waxahachie, TX – The Nelson University Lady Lions showcased heart and grit in their Saturday afternoon Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) clash against the UNT Dallas Trail Blazers at the Sheaffer Center, but a last-second three-pointer sealed a 78-77 loss for the home team.

In a game filled with dramatic lead changes and intense moments, the Lady Lions were relentless, closing a significant halftime deficit to turn the final moments into a nail-biting affair. The Sheaffer Center buzzed with energy as the Lady Lions, supported by 250 roaring fans, pushed UNT Dallas to the edge.

UNT Dallas came out firing, taking a slim 19-18 lead after the first quarter and extending it to 40-32 by halftime. The Lady Lions clawed their way back in the third, outscoring the Trail Blazers 21-18, thanks to efficient shooting and tough defensive stops.

With under a minute to play, UNT Dallas drove to the basket to put the visitors ahead 77-75. In a pressure-packed moment, Nelson's De'Asia Johnson nailed a clutch three-pointer with nine seconds remaining, giving UNTD a 78-77 lead.

  • Paris Miller delivered a standout performance off the bench, leading the Lady Lions with 18 points and six rebounds.
  • Autumn Moore played a pivotal role in the fourth quarter with crucial baskets, finishing with 10 points.
  • The Lady Lions' bench was exceptional, scoring 44 points to UNT Dallas' 12, showcasing the depth of the roster. Nelson also dominated in the paint with 50 points but fell just short in key moments.
