Waxahachie, TX — The Nelson University Lady Lions women's soccer team faced a tough Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) test on Saturday afternoon, hosting the John Brown University Golden Eagles at the Lions Athletic Complex. Despite a strong start and several early corner kick opportunities, the Lady Lions ultimately fell 6–0 to a sharp-shooting JBU side.
John Brown struck first in the 15th minute on a goal from Aubrey Winter, then carried that momentum into the second half with a flurry of five additional goals, including two more from Winter to complete her hat trick. The Golden Eagles capitalized on set pieces and crosses to extend their lead, with contributions from Addie Craig, Lillian Johnson, and Kara Whitson, each finding the back of the net.
For Nelson, goalkeeper Delaney Murphy recorded four saves while withstanding 12 total JBU shots. Defenders Monika Olivares and Azucena Garcia anchored a back line that stayed active throughout the match, battling against constant offensive pressure. Midfielders Ansley Meza and Daisy Ruiz worked hard to generate chances, earning three first-half corner kicks that put the Lady Lions in scoring position early.
Though the scoreline favored John Brown, the Lady Lions continued to fight with energy until the final whistle, showing the competitive spirit that has defined their season.
With the result, Nelson moves to 7–4–2 overall (2–3 SAC), while JBU improves to 7–2–3 (4–0–1 SAC).
