Oklahoma City, OK – The Nelson University Lady Lions women's soccer team took the field Saturday afternoon for a Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) showdown against the nationally ranked Oklahoma City University Stars at Brian Harvey Field. Despite a hard-fought effort and multiple chances created throughout the match, Nelson fell 4–0 to the Stars.
The Lady Lions came out determined to set the tone early, challenging OCU's defense with quick passing and pressure in the midfield. Atephanie Hernandez led the charge offensively, firing off four shots with one on target, while Daisy Altamirano and Ansley Meza each recorded shots on goal to keep the OCU keeper active.
The Stars capitalized on a pair of first-half opportunities, scoring in the 28th and 34th minutes to take a 2–0 lead heading into halftime.
Goalkeeper Delaney Murphy stood tall between the posts, registering nine saves on 13 shots on goal, weathering repeated offensive surges from the Stars.
The Lady Lions continued to fight, generating five corner kicks and maintaining strong possession spells, but Oklahoma City added two late goals in the 88th and 90th minutes to seal the result.
Nelson tallied nine total shots, four on frame, while maintaining composure through a physical match.
