Oklahoma City, OK – The Nelson University Lions men's soccer team went toe-to-toe with the Oklahoma City University Stars on Saturday afternoon in a physical Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) matchup at Brian Harvey Field. Despite a determined defensive effort and multiple second-half pushes, the Lions fell 1–0 in a tightly contested battle.
The Lions set a strong tone defensively from the opening whistle. Goalkeeper Amir Raime was sharp all afternoon, anchoring the back line with confidence and finishing the match with two key saves while navigating through OCU's persistent attack.
Oklahoma City netted the match's lone goal in the 28th minute when Juan Erazo connected on a header assisted by Harrison Knight, giving the Stars a 1–0 advantage that held the rest of the way.
Nelson created several dangerous opportunities throughout the match, tallying eight total shots, two on goal. Alejandro Herrera led the charge offensively with two shots, including one on target, while Isaiah Moreno and Omolemo Matla each added close-range attempts that kept OCU's keeper on alert.
The Lions earned five corner kicks, maintaining steady pressure late in the second half as they searched for an equalizer. Despite the push, the Stars held strong to secure the narrow victory.
