Lady Lions Sweep Oklahoma City to Cap Perfect Senior Weekend

October 25, 2025

Waxahachie, TX — The Nelson University Lady Lions volleyball team capped off an emotional weekend with a dominant sweep of Oklahoma City University (25–22, 25–20, 25–22) on Saturday afternoon inside the Sheaffer Center. The win marked Nelson's another Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) and continued the team's late-season surge heading into postseason play.

Still riding the high of Senior Night, the Lady Lions wasted no time establishing their rhythm. Nelson's offense clicked early, with outside hitter Alexandra Bonnett leading the charge. Bonnett delivered a stellar performance, posting 11 kills and 6 digs while hitting an efficient .379 — earning her the key player honor of the match.

Middle hitter Addison Standley was nearly unstoppable, slamming home 10 kills on a blistering .310 hitting percentageand adding two key block assists. Mackenzie Smith added 7 kills and a team-high 3 block assists, while Hope Jones brought the energy at the net with 6 kills and 4 blocks.

The Lady Lions' offense ran smoothly thanks to the steady hands of setters Taylor Cavazos and Cassidy Hargesheimer, who combined for 35 assists and distributed the ball with precision. Cavazos tallied 15 assists and 10 digs, while Hargesheimer added 20 assists and 11 digs, orchestrating a balanced attack that kept the Stars guessing all afternoon.

Nelson's back row held strong once again, anchored by Taylor Felux and Chloe Muñoz, who combined for 23 digs to stifle OCU's offensive surges. The Lady Lions' front line recorded 12 total blocks, with Jones, Smith, and Bonnett making their presence felt at the net.
