Waxahachie, TX — The Nelson University Lady Lions delivered a stunning performance in front of a roaring home crowd, sweeping No. 1-seeded Texas Wesleyan University 3–0 (25–22, 25–17, 25–20) in Tuesday night's Sooner Athletic Conference Pink Out matchup at the Sheaffer Center.
In a match that showcased energy, execution, and emotion, Nelson controlled the tempo from start to finish. The Lady Lions edged out a tight opening set 25–22, then stormed ahead in the second with relentless defense and aggressive swings. By the third frame, the crowd could feel it. Nelson was locked in, closing out the sweep 25–20 and handing Texas Wesleyan just its second conference loss of the season
Standout Mackenzie Smith paced the attack with 11 kills on an efficient .357 hitting percentage. Senior Samantha Moore added 7 kills and 2 blocks, while Addison Standley and Caroline Boone each tallied 9 and 7 kills respectively to complete a balanced offensive display.
Setter Cassidy Hargesheimer guided the offense with 18 assists and a pair of service aces, while libero Taylor Cavazos anchored the defense with 12 digs, keeping the Rams off rhythm all night
