Lady Lions Outlast Langston in Three, Complete Weekend Sweep

October 4, 2205

Waxahachie, TX – The Nelson University Lady Lions volleyball team closed out their weekend homestand in style on Saturday afternoon, defeating Langston University in straight sets (25-11, 25-15, 29-27) inside the Sheaffer Center for another Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) victory.

After cruising through the first two sets behind a dominant offensive rhythm, Nelson was tested in the third as Langston battled point-for-point to force extra play. The Lady Lions showed poise under pressure, sealing the sweep 29–27 to improve to 12-8 overall and 10-1 in SAC competition.

Addison Standley once again led the offensive attack with 12 kills, while middle blocker Caroline Boone added 10 more on a .240 hitting percentage. Setter duo Taylor Cavazos and Cassidy Hargesheimer kept the ball moving with a combined 29 assists, Cavazos leading with 16 while also contributing two service aces.

The star of the match, however, was Alexandra Bonnett, whose five service aces and steady play at the net helped shift momentum in Nelson's favor throughout the match. Bonnett's serving runs kept Langston on their heels and allowed the Lady Lions to build early separation in each set.

Defensively, Nelson held Langston to just a .071 hitting percentage, anchored by strong back-row coverage from libero Hailey Nixon and consistent touches at the net from Moore and Standley.

The win caps off a flawless 2-0 weekend for the Lady Lions, who continue to make a statement near the top of the SAC standings as the season progresses.
