Lady Lions surge past Central Christian with explosive second half, 104–56

Waxahachie, Texas | November 22, 2025 — The Nelson University Lady Lions delivered a statement win on Saturday afternoon, overpowering Central Christian College 104–56 inside a lively Sheaffer Center. Behind a dominant third-quarter run, balanced scoring, and a signature highlight from Paris Miller that sent the arena into a roar, Nelson moved to 5–1 overall and 1–1 in SAC play.

Nelson came out crisp and connected early, doubling up the Tigers 24–12 in the opening frame and building a 46–33 halftime advantage. But it was the surge out of the locker room that unleashed the full force of the Lions' attack. Nelson lit up the third quarter for 32 points on 55.6% shooting, turning defense into offense with 14 steals and 35 points off turnovers. The depth was overwhelming, 54 bench points to Central Christian's 23 and the interior dominance was unmistakable with 44 points in the paint.

The play of the game and maybe the entire young season came in the third quarter when Paris Miller isolated on the fastbreak, rocked her defender with a smooth behind-the-back move, dropped her to the floor, and then finished an inside-hand and-one through contact. The Sheaffer Center didn't just react, it erupted. A full gasp, then full volume.

Kate Miller added 19 points while going an impressive 9-of-10 at the line. Abby Boyce was a force of stability, scoring 16 points on 5-of-6 shooting and grabbing 9 rebounds. Ashley Gonzalez chipped in 13 points, and Lauryn Scalice was perfect from deep, scoring 8 points on a pair of threes. Nelson shot 54.2% from the field and 86.5% from the free-throw line—efficient, disciplined, and relentless.

Collectively, the Lady Lions controlled every major category: rebounding, tempo, pace, bench contributions, and defensive disruption. Central Christian was held to 34.4% shooting for the game, including just 25% in the fourth as Nelson closed strong.
