Hines Named NCCAA All-American, Capping One of the Greatest Defensive Careers in Nelson History

December 11, 2025 | Greenville, SC — The legacy keeps growing for Nelson University senior defender Javaughn Hines, who has officially been named a 2025 NCCAA Division I Men's Soccer All-American, earning a place on the Second Team after a season and a career defined by excellence, leadership, and championship-level impact.

For Nelson, for the NCCAA, and for anyone who watched him compete these last four years, the recognition feels inevitable. Hines didn't just anchor a back line…he elevated a program.

This All-American nod arrives in the middle of an unforgettable awards stretch for the senior standout. Just days ago, Hines was named the 2025 NCCAA Kyle Rote Jr. Award winner, one of the most prestigious honors in college soccer, recognizing the nation's most complete student-athlete across athletic performance, academic achievement, character, and Christian service. Now, with All-American distinction added to his resume, the full picture of his senior year and his impact on Nelson University comes sharply into focus.

Hines was the heartbeat of a Lions back line that powered Nelson to one of the program's finest postseason runs in school history, including a statement-making climb to the NCCAA National Semifinals.

His play reached its peak on the biggest stage. In the quarterfinal against defending national champion Judson University, Hines was spectacular, commanding the back line, closing space, winning aerials, and organizing the shape with veteran poise as the Lions stormed to a stunning 3–1 upset victory.

Two nights later, in the semifinal against eventual national champion Campbellsville, Hines again showcased why coaches across the country view him as one of the most disciplined, intelligent, and physically imposing defenders in the NCCAA. Against a Tigers team stacked with attacking finalists highlighted by National Player of the Year Mihlali Blesi, Hines' presence kept Nelson in a tense, physical match under the championship lights.

When the NCCAA honored him with the Kyle Rote Jr. Award, it signaled that Hines is the kind of student-athlete programs dream of building around. His All-American selection affirms it on the national stage.
