Waxahachie, TX  – On a night of celebration, the Nelson University Lions made sure to give their coach Delton Deal a performance to remember, securing a commanding 86-62 victory over Southwestern Christian in front of a lively home crowd at the Sheaffer Center.  

Before the game, the Lions honored Coach Deal for his 300th career win, and the team responded with a dominant display to keep the celebration going.

Despite a sluggish first half, the Lions flipped the switch after halftime, turning a 34-27 lead into a 52-point second half explosion. The defense tightened up, the fast break came alive, and the deep bench contributed 47 points, overwhelming the Eagles in the final stretch.

The Lions dominated the glass, out-rebounding Southwestern Christian 51-33, and their 29 assists showcased their unselfish play.

Nelson (19-7, 17-5 SAC) looks to keep the momentum rolling as they host John Brown University on Thursday, February 20, at 8:00 PM in the Sheaffer Center. #WhereLionsFindTheirRoar
