Waxahachie, TX - In a game filled with resilience, clutch shots, and a roaring home crowd, the Nelson University Lady Lions secured a heart-stopping 75-73 overtime victory against Southwestern Christian in Sooner Athletic Conference action at the Sheaffer Center on Monday night.Â
The Lady Lions found themselves in early trouble, managing just six first-quarter points and trailing 29-26 at the half. However, as the game progressed, Nelson found its rhythm, fueled by Kate Miller's electric performance and a gritty defensive effort.
Miller was unstoppable, pouring in a game-high 27 points, including four three-pointers, and showing her leadership at crucial moments. Autumn Moore owned the glass, grabbing 10 rebounds, while Wendy Clemmons orchestrated the offense with an impressive eight assists to go along with her 16 points
With seconds remaining in regulation, Clemmons drilled a dramatic three-pointer to force overtime, igniting the Sheaffer Center and setting the stage for a thrilling finish. In the extra period, Moore delivered the game-winning layup with just one second on the clock, sending the Lady Lions into celebration mode.
Nelson outscored Southwestern Christian 13-11 in overtime, leaning on defensive stops and key free throws to clinch the victory.
