Waxahachie, TX – The Nelson University Lady Lions delivered a storybook ending on Saturday afternoon, as Autumn Moore's clutch layup with just four seconds remaining sealed a dramatic 69-68 victory over John Brown University at the Sheaffer Center. The thrilling win, played in front of a roaring home crowd, capped off an intense back-and-forth battle in Sooner Athletic Conference play. Â
Trailing by one with seconds left, Moore took a pass from Wendy Clemmons and attacked the lane, banking in the game-winner to send the Lady Lions into celebration mode. Moore finished with 12 points, while Clemmons and Kate Miller led the charge with 16 points apiece. The duo combined for seven three-pointers, keeping Nelson in striking distance throughout the contest. Â
John Brown started hot, taking a five-point lead into the second quarter, but Nelson responded with a gritty second-half surge. The Lady Lions outscored the Golden Eagles 20-15 in the third, setting the stage for the thrilling final moments. Nelson's defense stood tall in the closing possessions, forcing key stops to keep their upset bid alive. Â
With the victory, Nelson (9-17, 8-15 SAC) continues to build momentum heading into their next matchup on Monday at the Sheaffer Center against Ozarks, tipping off at 4 PM. Â
