CHICKASHA, OK – The Nelson University Lady Lions took the field on Saturday looking to make a statement in their conference doubleheader against the University of Science and Arts (Okla.). Facing a tough opponent on the road at Bill Smith Ballpark, Nelson fought hard but ultimately fell short in both games of the series. Â
Game 1
The Lady Lions struggled to find their rhythm at the plate in the opener, as USAO came out swinging and never looked back. Nelson was held hitless in a five-inning contest that ended in an 11-0 loss. Â
The Drovers struck early, putting up four runs in the first inning and adding three more in the second to build a commanding lead. A two-run double from USAO's S. Selfridge highlighted the offensive onslaught. Nelson's pitching staff, led by starter Trinity Muhle, battled against the high-powered attack, but the home team capitalized on key opportunities. Â
Offensively, the Lady Lions couldn't break through against USAO's ace, S. Williams (8-2), who pitched a five-inning no-hitter, allowing just one baserunner via a walk. Â
Game 2
Looking to bounce back in Game 2, the Lady Lions put up a strong defensive effort, keeping USAO's offense in check throughout the game. However, one big hit in the first inning proved to be the difference, as Nelson fell 2-0 in a tightly contested matchup. Â
Nelson's Natalie Zamora delivered a strong outing, going six innings while allowing just five hits and striking out four. Unfortunately, a two-run double from USAO's S. Selfridge in the first inning provided all the scoring the Drovers needed. Â
At the plate, Nelson had difficulty generating offense against USAO's J. Anderson (4-1), who allowed just one hit over seven innings in a dominant performance. Marcella Bryan collected the Lady Lions' lone hit of the game, but Nelson was unable to push a run across. Â
Despite the loss, the Lady Lions showed resilience, turning a double play in the fifth inning and limiting USAO to just two runs. Â

The Lady Lions will look to regroup and make adjustments as they prepare for another showdown against USAO on Monday, March 17, with a doubleheader starting at 2:00 PM in Chickasha, OK. Â
