Waxahachie, TX – The Nelson University Lady Lions took the field on Friday, March 7, looking to make a statement in a conference doubleheader against Mid-America Christian University (MACU). While Game 1 didn't go their way, the Lady Lions bounced back with a dramatic walk-off victory in Game 2 to split the series. Â
Game 1
The Lady Lions had difficulty generating offense in the opener, falling 8-0 in five innings. Despite five hits, Nelson couldn't string them together against MACU's dominant pitching. Sasha Jennings (1-for-3, SB) and Macie Blizzard(1-for-2) tried to spark the offense, but the Lady Lions left too many runners stranded. Â
On the mound, Macie Blizzard (1-2) took the loss, while Valerie Guzman provided a solid middle relief effort. The Lady Lions will look to shake off this performance and regroup for the second game. Â

Game 2
Nelson refused to go down quietly in the second game, battling to a 6-5 win with a thrilling three-run seventh inning. Â
Down 5-3 in the final frame, Juli King and Sasha Jennings set the table with back-to-back hits. After a sacrifice bunt moved them over, Trista Ford delivered a clutch sacrifice fly, cutting the deficit to one. Then, Madyson Wiggins tied the game with an RBI single before Avery Coleman crushed a walk-off double to right field, sending the Lady Lions into celebration mode.Â
Trinity Muhle (3-3) earned the win in relief, tossing three strong innings to keep Nelson within striking distance. Sasha Jennings (2-for-4, 2 R, SB) and Trista Ford (2-for-3, RBI, 2B) led the offensive charge. Â
