Lions Dominate Jarvis Christian in 4–0 Road Victory

September 16, 2025

Hawkins, TX – The Nelson University men's soccer team flexed its depth and firepower Tuesday afternoon, rolling past Jarvis Christian in a convincing 4–0 shutout. From start to finish, the Lions controlled possession, executed clean passing, and delivered a balanced attack that wore down the Bulldogs on their home field.

After probing the Jarvis defense early, Nelson broke through in the 30th minute. Midfielder Makel Mitchell capitalized on a setup from Isaiah Borjon, slotting home the opening goal to put the Lions ahead 1–0.

The Lions came out of halftime with relentless pressure, and it paid off in waves. In the 64th minute, center back Diego Puyo pushed forward on a set piece and buried a finish off a Sergio Lopez Garcia assist. Just under 20 minutes later, super-sub Yael Sandoval struck in the 83rd, assisted by Omolemo Matla, to stretch the lead to 3–0.

Nelson wasn't finished. Landon Exley capped the scoring in the 89th minute, pouncing on a feed from David Ospina to seal the 4–0 result.

The backline was rock solid throughout, limiting Jarvis to just four total shots and only two on target. Goalkeeper Amir Raime earned the clean sheet without needing to record an official save thanks to sharp positioning and defensive cover.
