Nelson Women’s Cross Country Receives First-Ever National Votes in NAIA Top 25

September 29, 2025

Waxahachie, Texas – History has been made for Nelson University Women's Cross Country, as the Lions have earned national recognition in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll for the first time in program history. The poll, released Wednesday by the NAIA national office, lists Nelson among the "Receiving Votes" category, signaling the team's rise as one of the emerging programs in the nation.

The recognition comes on the heels of strong early-season performances where the Lions have showcased their depth, discipline, and steady progression. Nelson has climbed steadily in regional competition, now making a legitimate push to break into the NAIA's top 30 nationally. The Lions' momentum reflects both the individual breakthroughs of standout runners and the collective commitment of the entire roster. Each meet has brought personal bests and stronger team finishes, placing Nelson squarely on the national radar.

The Lions will look to carry this momentum into upcoming races as they aim to solidify their position among the country's best.
