Trelin Green Named SAC Defensive Player of the Week

Waxahachie, Texas | February 2, 2026 — Nelson University men's basketball standout Trelin Green has been named the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday morning.

Green anchored the Lions' defensive effort during a two-game conference stretch, recording nine steals and six defensive rebounds while helping Nelson to a 1–1 SAC mark on the week

His relentless on-ball pressure and ability to disrupt passing lanes proved decisive, consistently forcing opponents out of rhythm.

In Nelson's conference win over Oklahoma Panhandle State, Green delivered a defensive clinic, piling up seven steals and three defensive rebounds, repeatedly turning defense into transition opportunities. He followed that performance with two steals and three defensive boards against Wayland Baptist, continuing to set the tone on the perimeter.

Beyond his defensive presence, Green also contributed offensively, averaging 12.5 points per game over the span, underscoring his value as a two-way threat for the Lions.

This honor adds to a strong season for Green, who has established himself as one of the SAC's most disruptive defenders and a key catalyst in Nelson's conference push.
