Lady Lions Explode in Home in 78–66 Win Over Oklahoma City

Waxahachie, TX | February 5, 2026 — Back inside the friendly confines of the Sheaffer Center, the Nelson University Lady Lions put together a complete, composed performance Thursday night, turning a steady start into a statement 78–66 victory over Oklahoma City University.

Nelson set the tone early, defending with purpose and playing downhill offensively to build a 15–10 edge after the opening quarter. The Stars pushed back in the second, but the Lady Lions never blinked, answering every run and heading into halftime with a slim but confident advantage.

The game's turning point came out of the locker room. Nelson erupted in the third quarter, pouring in 26 points behind crisp ball movement, timely shooting, and relentless pressure on both ends of the floor. The surge stretched the margin and ignited the home crowd as the Lady Lions seized full control of the contest.

Paris Miller delivered another all-around effort, finishing with 18 points and a dominant 13 rebounds to anchor Nelson in the paint. Ashley Gonzalez sparked the offense with 15 points, knocking down four triples, while Abby Boyce added 12 points and five boards with her trademark energy. Kate Miller chipped in 12 points of her own, and Kaitlyn McKenna orchestrated the offense with 11 assists to go along with five points.

Defensively, Nelson's activity paid dividends. The Lady Lions forced key turnovers, won the rebounding battle, and consistently turned stops into points, building their largest lead of 14 in the fourth quarter before calmly closing the door at the free-throw line.

With the win, Nelson continues its strong conference push and sends the Sheaffer Center crowd home smiling after another composed, high-energy showing.
