Bethany, Okla. | February 7, 2026 — Riding a monster performance and relentless interior pressure, the No. 8 Nelson University Lions picked up a hard-fought 85–79 road win over Southwestern Christian on Saturday afternoon in Sooner Athletic Conference action.
From the opening tip, the Lions made it clear they wanted to play through strength and pace. Nelson put up 42 first-half points, matching Southwestern Christian punch-for-punch in an evenly played opening 20 minutes. While the Eagles leaned on perimeter shooting to stay level, Nelson consistently won the paint battle and lived at the free-throw line.
The second half belonged to Micah Clark.
Clark was simply dominant, pouring in 33 points on 13-of-24 shooting, knocking down four three-pointers, and pulling down 11 rebounds to post a commanding double-double. Time and again, Clark answered SCU runs with tough buckets, momentum-swinging finishes, and physical rebounding that kept the Lions in control.
Nelson began to separate after halftime, scoring 43 second-half points and repeatedly attacking downhill. The Lions finished with a 46–20 advantage in points in the paint and forced the Eagles into quick defensive rotations that opened up scoring lanes all afternoon.
Trelin Green added a steady 11 points and dished out six assists, while Ozavian Buford chipped in nine points and provided valuable minutes on both ends. Nelson's pressure defense fueled transition opportunities as well, leading to 15 fast-break points and a decisive edge in tempo.
Despite a late push from Southwestern Christian, the Lions stayed composed at the stripe and closed out the win to improve to 20–4 overall continuing their push toward the top of the conference standings
