Tested by a Top-5 Powerhouse the Lady Lions Battle No. 4 OCU in SAC Showdown

Waxahachie, TX | March 27, 2026 — Home field, high stakes, and one of the nation's best in the dugout across the diamond. The Nelson University Lady Lions welcomed No. 4 Oklahoma City University to the Lions Athletic Complex for a four-game SAC series that tested toughness, depth, and resilience from first pitch to final out.

Despite the final results, the Lady Lions showed flashes of competitive fire and moments that continue to build this program forward.

Game 1 | L, 0-10
Oklahoma City wasted no time setting the tone, jumping ahead early and capitalizing on timely hitting. Nelson battled to find rhythm offensively, with Trista Ford recording one of the lone hits in the contest.

In the circle, Valerie Guzman and Dyllan Chrismon worked through a relentless OCU lineup that strung together extra-base power and pressure on the basepaths.

Game 2 | L, 3-17
Game two saw a spark from the Lady Lions in the middle innings. Morgan Womack delivered a highlight moment with a two-run home run, while Elena Mendez and Trista Ford each contributed key hits to generate offense.

Nelson briefly cut into the deficit, but a big fourth inning from OCU proved decisive.

Game 3 | L, 0-14
Back at the complex on Saturday, OCU's offense stayed hot. Nelson found bright spots offensively with Avery Coleman going a perfect 2-for-2 and Juli King adding an extra-base hit.

The Lady Lions continued to compete defensively, rotating arms in the circle to manage innings against a deep Stars lineup.

Game 4 | L, 5-6
The finale brought the fight.

Nelson delivered its strongest performance of the series, going toe-to-toe with a national contender. The bats came alive with 13 total hits, highlighted by K'Leigh Williams driving in two runs and Elena Mendez collecting multiple hits and an RBI.

Layla Oliver added a run-scoring effort, while Morgan Womack and Cadence Hopgood helped fuel a late push. The Lady Lions surged with a three-run sixth inning to tie the game before OCU edged ahead late in a tightly contested 6-5 battle.
