April 28, 2026 | Waxahachie, TX — After delivering one of the most dominant performances of the conference meet, Ishmeal Ealoms of Nelson University Track & Field has been named the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) Athlete of the Week.

The recognition comes on the heels of a historic weekend for the Lions, as Nelson claimed both the men's and women's SAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships for the first time in program history. Competing on their home track at the Lions Athletic Complex, the Lions completed a dominant three-day run that redefined the standard for the program.

At the center of it all was Ealoms.

The thrower delivered a meet-defining performance, earning Men's Individual Champion honors with 28 total points, leading all competitors across the conference. His ability to score across multiple events not only separated him individually but powered Nelson to a team championship.

Ealoms' performance was highlighted by:

• Discus — 47.79m (1st place)

• Hammer Throw — 48.37m (1st place)

• Shot Put — 14.40m (2nd place)

His dominance in the throwing events created a consistent scoring presence that gave Nelson a decisive edge throughout the meet. Every throw, every mark, and every point contributed to a championship outcome.

In a meet defined by depth and total team effort, it was Ealoms who set the tone and carried the momentum, delivering when it mattered most.

Now, with a conference title secured and weekly honors in hand, Ealoms' performance stands as one of the defining moments of Nelson's historic championship run.
