Waxahachie, TX - The Lady Lions started the weekend off strong John Brown University. Nelson defeated the Golden Eagles 3-0, taking the sets 25-21, 27-25 and 25-23. With the win, the Lady Lions improved to 7-4 overall and remained undefeated in conference play at 3-0.
The Lady Lions opened the match with a strong offensive performance, recording 16 kills in the opening set to secure the 25-21 victory. John Brown responded with a tightly contested second set, but Nelson battled through late to come away with a 27-25 win and take a commanding 2-0 lead.
The Golden Eagles continued to fight in the third set, but the Lady Lions held their composure and closed out the match with a 25-23 victory to complete the sweep.
Caroline Boone led Nelson offensively with 13 kills, while Mackenzie Smith added 10. Savannah Bergman and Keara Savory-Calbo made their presence felt at the net with four blocks each, while Smith added three blocks.
Cassidy Hargesheimer led the Lady Lions with 18 assists and added 10 digs, while Ashlyn Cavazos contributed 15 assists. Taylor Felux and Chloe Munoz led the defensive effort with 11 digs apiece.
Nelson finished the match with 44 kills, six service aces and eight blocks while hitting .200 as a team.
