Lion Review

  • The SAGU men's soccer team entered the game hunting for their first victory of the season.

  • Southwestern was awarded a penalty kick due to an overly aggressive SAGU defense.

  • After capitalizing on the penalty kick, Southwestern was able to contain SAGU's offensive attack from netting a goal.

  • Bryan Linares and Jabez Rodriguez, two freshmen, took on more significant responsibilities and helped the Lions gain control of the game.

Oancea's Opinion

"We need to be more consistent with our performance because we continue to play half games instead of a full game. When we learn to be consistent in our effort and discipline, the results will come," SAGU men's soccer head coach Clementin Oancea said.

"Proud with their effort in the second half, and we created enough chances to win the game, but unfortunately, the ball didn't go in. I was proud to see some of the freshman class coming in and bringing the fight and effort much needed at halftime," Oancea said.

The Next Step

The Lions will visit Schreiner University on September 7 to earn their first victory of the season.
