Lady Lions Resilience Shines Through at NAIA Invitational

Mesquite, TX - The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions softball team concluded their Mesquite NAIA Invitational journey with a doubleheader showdown against Missouri Baptist University and Friends University on Saturday afternoon.

 

Game 1: Missouri Baptist University
In a challenging opener, the Lady Lions encountered offensive hurdles against Missouri Baptist, resulting in a tough 13-0 defeat. Trista Ford provided a glimmer of hope with a solitary hit, going 1 for 2 at the plate. On the mound, Natalie Zamora battled through 3 innings, surrendering 4 hits and 2 earned runs. Despite striking out 1 batter and issuing 1 walk, the Lady Lions couldn't overcome the strong opposition.


Game 2: Friends University
Despite a valiant effort, the Lady Lions fell short once again, facing a 3-0 loss against Friends University. Cadence Hopgood showcased her prowess at the plate, going 2 for 3, but it wasn't enough to turn the tide. Trista Ford put up a resilient performance on the mound, enduring 4 innings and conceding 3 earned runs on 5 hits.

Looking ahead, the Lady Lions gear up for their next challenge as they travel to Tyler, Texas, to take on Texas College in a doubleheader scheduled for February 20th (Tuesday).
