SAGU Lady Lions Fall Short in Game 1, Roar Back to Shutout Victory in Game 2 Against Wayland Baptist University

Waxahachie, TX - In the opening clash of their Sooner Athletic Conference series, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions battled Wayland Baptist University (WBU) in a high-stakes doubleheader at the Lions Athletic Complex in Waxahachie, Texas.

Game 1
Game one saw the Lady Lions stumble, falling 6-2 to a determined Wayland squad. Despite the setback, standout performances emerged, with Cadence Hopgood blasting a homer, McKenzie Schulze and Myranda Lewis contributing hits, and Abigail Muniz and Sasha Jennings adding to the offensive effort. Pitcher Annie Charanza valiantly battled through 6.1 innings, while Aracelie Mares provided solid relief.

Game 2

Undeterred, the Lady Lions rallied in Game 2, delivering an emphatic 8-0 victory. Sasha Jennings showcased her prowess with a stellar 3-for-4 performance, while Trista Ford, McKenzie Schulze, Kaeli Lynn, and Makinzy Kneip provided crucial hits and RBIs. Pitcher Valerie Guzman commanded the mound, tossing 6 shutout innings and limiting Wayland to just 3 hits.

With momentum on their side, the Lady Lions set their sights on redemption as they gear up for the series finale against Wayland Baptist University on April 19th at 12:00 & 2:00 PM back at the Lions Athletic Complex.
