Waxahachie, TX – The Nelson University Lady Lions came out swinging in their conference series opener, securing back-to-back wins against Southwestern Christian University at the Lions Athletic Complex on Friday.
Game 1
The Lady Lions found their rhythm in the fourth inning, plating five runs to seize control of the game. Avery Coleman, Marcella Bryan, and Sasha Jennings delivered clutch RBI hits, while Jennings later capitalized on an error to score. Makinzy Kneip added an insurance RBI with a sacrifice fly. On the mound, Trinity Muhle (6.0 IP, 3 ER, 5 K) held the Eagles in check before Valerie Guzman closed the door in the seventh.
Game 2Â
The nightcap featured a thrilling finish as Nelson clawed back late. Trailing in the final frame, Makinzy Kneip delivered a clutch RBI single, setting the stage for Brooke Kinnibrugh, who grounded out but drove in the game-winning run. Sasha Jennings was electric, scoring three times, while Kneip and Cylee Panell each tallied multiple hits. Valerie Guzman once again shut down the opposition in relief, sealing another Lions victory.
