Plainview Texas – Nelson University's Montrell Blacknall rose to the challenge at the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship Meet, delivering a dominant performance in the men's decathlon to capture the conference title with a score of 5,780 points.
Blacknall's all-around athleticism was on full display across the two-day event, as he strung together a string of consistent finishes and clutch efforts in key events. Competing in one of track and field's most grueling disciplines, Blacknall showcased his speed, strength, and stamina in everything from sprints and hurdles to long jump and pole vault.
His championship-winning score edged out Wayland Baptist's Aidan Heredia (5,308) and Texas Wesleyan's Quentin Fankhouser (5,110).
The win caps off an impressive season of steady growth for Blacknall, who has become a foundational figure for Nelson Track & Field. Congratulations to our SAC Decathlon Champion—Montrell Blacknall!
