Lions Set to Host Nelson Invitational in Full-Day Showcase of Competition and Community

Waxahachie, TX | March 18, 2026 — The stage is set at the Lions Athletic Complex. This Friday, Nelson University Track & Field welcomes programs from across the region for the 2026 Nelson Invitational, a full-day meet that promises high-level competition, electric energy, and a celebration of the sport.

From the first throw to the final stride, the Invitational will showcase the depth, discipline, and determination that define track & field.

Field events will open the day at 10:00 AM, with athletes competing across throws and jumps, setting the tone early with strength and precision. As the afternoon builds, attention will shift to the track, where running events begin at 2:00 PM with a rolling schedule.

The format is simple; compete, respond, and rise.

Women will lead off each event, with heats running fast to slow, creating a continuous rhythm of action throughout the afternoon.

But the Nelson Invitational is more than just a meet.

It's an opportunity for the Waxahachie community to gather, support, and experience the energy of collegiate track & field up close. Every jump, every throw, every finish line moment reflects the hours of preparation and the pursuit of excellence that defines these student-athletes.

For the Lions, it's also a chance to compete on their home surface for the first time ever and to defend their ground, represent their program, and continue building momentum in front of their home crowd.

Fans can follow the action throughout the day with live results and access full meet information online, making it easy to stay connected whether in the stands or on the go.

As the calendar turns deeper into the season, moments like these matter.
Opportunities to compete. Opportunities to host. Opportunities to rise.
