Lions Legend Noah Boling Returns Home as Assistant Coach

April 7, 2025

Waxahachie, TX – The Nelson University Lions men's basketball team is proud to welcome home one of its own, announcing the hiring of legendary alum Noah Boling as the newest assistant coach.

A familiar name to Lion fans, Boling returns to the program he once led on the court—this time with a whistle in hand. Known for his relentless work ethic, servant leadership, and team-first mentality, Boling is eager to transition his success as a student-athlete into a mentorship role that inspires the next generation.

"I'm beyond excited to be back where it all started," Boling said. "This program helped shape me into the person I am today, and I'm ready to give back by helping our guys grow not just as athletes, but as men."

Boling's coaching resume already includes high-level experience in the NBA G-League, serving with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers under Head Coach Joseph Blair and General Manager Travis Stockbridge. His role as Basketball Operations Assistant had him immersed in daily coaching duties—leading training sessions, analyzing film, contributing to scouting reports, and even managing team logistics on the road.

At Nelson University, Boling's story is the stuff of Lion lore. After walking on as a redshirt, he rose to become the team's starting point guard and captain. His accolades are impressive:

  • Sooner Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year (2020)
  • 3rd Team All-Conference (2024)
  • 2× SAC Sportsmanship Award Winner (2023, 2024)
  • NCCAA All-Central Region (2024)
  • Academic All-American & Dean's List Honoree
  • Team Captain (2023–2024)

Beyond the stats, he was a pillar of leadership—mentoring younger teammates and setting a standard of excellence in the locker room and classroom. Boling holds a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Nelson and is on track to complete his MBA in May 2025, maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA.

As he rejoins the Lions in this new chapter, Boling brings a blend of elite-level insight and deep-rooted pride for his alma mater.

Welcome back, Coach Boling—once a Lion, always a Lion. #WhereLionsFindTheirRoar
