Victoria, TX – The Nelson University Lady Lions women's soccer team opened their Friday match with a gritty non-conference battle at The Cage against Texas A&M–Victoria. In a match that saw momentum swings and late drama, the Lady Lions fought to a 1–1 draw on the road.

After a scoreless first half, Nelson's persistence paid off in the 70th minute. Freshman Damaris Solis broke through with a dazzling solo effort, slipping past defenders and finishing cleanly to give the Lady Lions a 1–0 lead. It was Solis' second goal of the young season, once again showcasing her ability to create game-changing moments.

The Jaguars answered back late, finding the equalizer in the 86th minute when Belle Artley capitalized on a defensive rebound and buried the shot to level the score. Despite continued pressure, neither side could break through in the closing moments.

The Lady Lions controlled much of the stat sheet, outshooting A&M–Victoria 16–7 and earning five corner kicks to none. Nelson goalkeeper Delaney Murphy stood tall with two saves, helping Nelson withstand the Jaguars' late push.
