Waxahachie, TX | March 16, 2026 — Nelson University Athletics Director Dr. Jesse Godding has been named a recipient of the prestigious 2025–26 NACDA Athletics Director of the Year Award, one of the highest honors in collegiate athletics administration.
Presented annually by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), the award recognizes athletics directors who demonstrate outstanding leadership, commitment to student-athletes, and meaningful contributions to their institutions and communities.
Dr. Godding was selected as one of just 28 athletics directors across all collegiate divisions nationwide to receive the honor this year, representing the NAIA division for Nelson University.
"This recognition reflects the culture of excellence that has been cultivated throughout Nelson University Athletics," said Dr. Godding. "It is an incredible honor to receive this award from NACDA. As an organization, NACDA NAIA-ADA has enriched my professional career through networking, professional development, and being able to serve on the NAIA-ADA Board of Directors and Executive Committee."
He continued, "Correspondingly, this award is a reflection of Nelson University and the commitment of administration, coaches, and support staff to excellence."
Under Dr. Godding's leadership, Nelson University Athletics has experienced tremendous growth both competitively and culturally. The Lions have continued to build a strong reputation across the NAIA landscape through championship-level performance, student-athlete development, and a commitment to representing the university with integrity and purpose.
The NACDA Athletics Director of the Year Award program, now in its 28th year, honors athletics directors who inspire excellence, demonstrate leadership in higher education, and elevate the impact of collegiate athletics within their communities.
Dr. Godding's impact extends far beyond campus competition. His leadership within national athletics organizations has allowed him to help shape the future of intercollegiate athletics while advocating for student-athletes and institutional excellence across the NAIA.
"I am grateful for the ability to work and serve in an environment that allows individuals to pursue the capacity to influence their profession outside of the walls of the institution," Dr. Godding added.
Dr. Godding will be formally recognized during the 61st Annual NACDA & Affiliates Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada, where the award winners will be honored alongside some of the most respected leaders in college athletics.
For Nelson University, the recognition serves as another milestone in a continued commitment to building a championship culture that prioritizes both athletic success and transformational student-athlete experiences. At Nelson University, it's where Lions continue to find their roar.
