Volleyball Goes Down in Four Sets

Box Score Goodwell, OK – The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) volleyball team took on Oklahoma Panhandle State University last night in their first conference match up this season. The Lady Lions came up short 3-1 in a competitive game against a well-coached OPSU team. In the loss the Lady Lions were able to see their younger players excel in competitive situations. In a night where the Lady Lions saw 4 players with double digit kills and a setter with 36 assists, the loss provided many bright spots.

Notable Performers
  • Riley Burcham had a career night with 36 assists. She ran a very fast offense and did an outstanding job as a floor leader.
  • Alexis Mealer had 15 kills while hitting .343.
  • Ariel Horton had another double-double with13 kills and 18 digs.
  • Freshman Tori Richard-Burns ended the night with 18 assists.

I'm very happy to see another strong team in our conference. We were beat by a good team, but we did some good things that we will be able to build"
