Volleyball Wins on the Road

Box Score Oklahoma City, OK – The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Volleyball team played a very hard-fought match tonight against Mid-America Christian Unviersity (MACU).  In the first set the Lions struggled in every aspect of play; it took them a while to get settled. A few mental errors on serve and receive to go along with nine hitting errors sums up the lost to MACU in the first set.  The Lady Lions got settled in and played much better as a team after the first set. The girls stepped up and played very hard to win the next three straight sets to win the match in 4. The fall semester has been one to remember for the Volleyball program. They looked to carry this momentum into the spring.  
 
Notable Performers
  • Aeriel Horton (SR/ Waxahachie, TX) led the Lady Lions with 20 kills and 13 digs. She's been the leader on and off the court all fall for the Lady Lions
  • Both setters played a big part in the win tonight. Tori Richard-Burns (FR/ N Richland Hills, TX) led the Lady Lions in assist with 24. Riley Burcham (SO/ Georgetown, TX ) added 20 assists
  • Alexis Mealer (JR/ Arlington, TX) was huge with 13 kills, 1 solo block and 7 assisted blocks
  • Faith Marroquin (JR/ Omaha, NE) contributed with 20 digs

The Next Step
  • The Lady Lions finished up their last game of the semester. They will be back competing in the spring.
