Box Score 1 The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) volleyball team competed in back to back conference home games against Oklahoma Panhandle State University (OPSU) and Wayland Baptist University (WBU) over the weekend. In the Friday night game the Lady Lions matched up against OPSU, they pulled out a victory in 4 sets (21-25, 25-15, 25-17, 25-19) after OPSU took the first set (25-21). The Lady Lions finished the game with 55 team kills and both setters Tori Richard-Burns and
Riley Burcham added 22 assists each
. Saturday's game featured a tough (14-4) WBU team; the Lady Lions would eventually fall in straight sets but not without a fight. The first set was back and forth with neither team able to take a commanding lead, WBU was able to win the first set (25-23). The next two sets were the same in a very competitive match, but WBU took both of the next sets (25-20, 25-22). The Lady Lions are now 5-3 in conference play.
Notable Performers
- Alexis Mealer (JR/ Arlington, TX) was consistent all weekend leading the Lady Lions with 24 total kills
- Tori Richard-Burns (FR/ N Richland Hills, TX) finished the weekend with 41 total assists and 15 digs
- Ava Meyers (SO/ Round Top, TX) had a significant impact against OPSU with 11 kills and 14 digs. She followed that up 10 kills and 8 digs against WBU
