Waxahachie, TX: For the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) Volleyball Tournament semifinals, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions matched up as the No. 1 seed to face the No. 4 seed Mid-America Christian University (MACU) Evangels. In the SAC quarterfinals, MACU dispatched Oklahoma Panhandle State University 25-12, 25-22, 27-25 for Evangel's first SAC volleyball tournament win. The SAGU knocked off Science & Arts 25-18, 26-24, and 25-7 on Tuesday at the Sheaffer Center for their quarterfinal matchup. The two elite teams would compete in an incredibly tight encounter to earn a trip to the SAC tournament finals.
The Lady Lions (31-0, 20-0) beat MACU in three electric sets, 25-22, 25-15, and 25-18, to advance to the final round of the Sooner Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament.

The Lady Lion's scoring began with Emma Tompkins smacking a pass from Riley Burcham. The Lady Lions' co-stars showed no symptoms of postseason anxiety.

Abby Wells and Ava Myers used tremendous strokes to collect Lady Lion points in the 25-22 set one triumph.

By providing expert service aces, Kya Bock and Lindi Boling helped the SAGU team overcome MACU.

Superb net defense was supplied by Alexandra Bonnett and Karena Tipton, who combined for multiple blocks.

Tessa Glick and Madi Petten played outstanding defense, which allowed the Lady Lions to win set two by a margin of double digits.
"This was a great win for SAGU Volleyball. Our kids stepped and played so good. I'm so proud of them. Karena Tipton and Abby Wells were the difference this afternoon. Karena had a huge night offensively and an even bigger night defensively. Abby stepped up and had a great match. Advancing to the finals of the SAC is a major accomplishment. Praise the Lord for such a great group of girls," SAGU Head Volleyball Coach Hank Moore said.

Next up for the SAGU, Lady Lions will aim to survive and advance, matching up with Texas Wesleyan University (TWU) in the final round of the Sooner Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament in hopes of adding another championship to their historic season.
