Lion Review

  • Emma Tompkins began the game with a solo block, continuing her heroics from Friday night's match against OPSU.

  • Early in the first set, floor general Riley Burcham executed a cunning move.

  • Burcham's timed assist allowed Karena Tipton to score a kill.

  • Ava Myers and Lily Hanna significantly boosted the Lady Lions' attacking onslaught in the first set.

  • SAGU recorded 18 kills in the victory in the opening set.

  • The Lady Lions needed to be more "disciplined" at the block, SAGU assistant volleyball coach Nick Moore stated after the second set, and he urged his team to finish strong.

  • Lindi Boling showcased in the third and final set that she is a strong setter and an even stronger defensive specialist.

  • Emma Tompkins, the game's most valuable player, set a new season best with 16 kills in three sets.

More from Moore:

"This was a very well played game by our girls. As a team, we hit .499. We also had six blocks and eight aces. Ava Myers, Emma Tompkins, Alexandra Bonnett, Karena Tipton, and Lilly Hanna all hit the ball extremely well. Wayland is playing without some key kids, but our kids all played at a very high level. I'm very proud of the growth that is taking place. We are starting to really improve. I'm very proud of our whole team," SAGU Head Volleyball Coach Hank Moore said.
