BJ Clark Earns NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week Honors After Record-Breaking Performance

Waxahachie, Texas | January 12, 2026 — Nelson University sophomore Brandon Clark has been named NCCAA Men's Indoor Track & Field Student-Athlete of the Week following a dominant opening weekend at the Friends University First Chance Qualifier in Wichita, Kansas.

Clark delivered one of the most electric performances of the early indoor season, headlined by a 14.99-meter triple jump on his first attempt. The mark not only secured first place out of 15 competitors, but also served as an automatic NAIA qualifier, an NCCAA qualifying standard, and a new Nelson University indoor school record. The jump places Clark among the top five nationally in both the NAIA and NCCAA this season, while currently leading the NCCAA by more than a quarter of a meter.

The Fort Worth native wasn't finished after the triple jump pit. Clark doubled back to post a 6.85-meter long jump, adding another NCCAA qualifying mark and reinforcing his versatility as one of the premier horizontal jumpers in the region.

Clark's early-season form signals a high ceiling as Nelson Track & Field continues to build momentum through the indoor slate.
