Oklahoma City, Okla. – Nelson University standout Brandon Clark, Jr. has been named the Sooner Athletic Conference Digital Scoreboard Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday morning.
Clark, Jr. delivered a record-breaking performance at the Friends University First Chance Qualifier, capturing first place in the triple jump while rewriting the Nelson University record books. On his opening attempt, Clark, Jr. launched a leap of 14.99 meters, eclipsing the previous school record and immediately establishing himself among the conference's elite.
The mark also carried added significance, as it met the NAIA "A" Standard qualifying mark, securing Clark, Jr.'s position among the top competitors nationally early in the indoor season. His winning jump came against a strong regional field featuring NAIA and junior college athletes, making the performance even more impressive in an early-season setting.
Clark, Jr.'s achievement reflects both preparation and explosiveness, setting the tone for Nelson men's track & field as the program builds momentum through the indoor campaign.
Other nominees for the week included Edmundo Avalos (Wayland Baptist), Hayden Norwich (Texas Wesleyan), and Ian Loftin (Langston).
With his school-record performance and national qualifying mark, Clark, Jr. continues to elevate Nelson University on the conference and national stage.
