Waxahachie, TX | December 1, 2025 — When the lights got bright, Ashley Gonzalez delivered. The Nelson University sophomore guard has been named the NCCAA Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week, following a dominant offensive performance that powered the Lions to an 81–66 rivalry victory over Texas Wesleyan.

The Edinburg, Texas native was electric from start to finish, pouring in 27 points while shooting with the confidence and rhythm of a seasoned veteran. Gonzalez connected on eight three-pointers, hitting a blistering 62 percent from long range and 60 percent from the field overall.

Beyond her scoring explosion, Gonzalez contributed in every phase of play, adding five rebounds, two assists, and a steal, showcasing her all-around impact and leadership on a Lions squad off to a strong 6–1 start this season.
